Default Re: I want an RS4 damnit.

I have a B5 S4 and it is barely good enough to wait, so your B6 isn't :P

joking aside I finally went and looked at an RS4 in person today-dealer had a sold Daytona/black and an available silver/black. Both looked great, but they are a little more than I would want to spend. Oh, and they were trying to mark up the silver 5K.

Also test drove an 02 M5 today-fun car!

So, it was a good day-video made it just that much better...

Default in comparison to a deal for an '08, it is irrelevant.

let's say he buys a '07 RS4 for $70K. if the '05 trade-in is now worth $35k, he needs to finance $35k.

if he waits a year for the '08 RS4 (which should be the same MSRP, or close), his trade-in will be worth less, say $30k. so he has to finance $40k.

wait a year, lose $5k....give or take a couple hundred bucks.

Default The problem is when that becomes a pattern...

Replace your car every year and you are talking a 25% or 30% hit every year. Replace it every 3, 4 years, or more you spread out those big first year hits and take only say a 10% hit on a smaller amount of money the other years.

Hey if you have a few million in the bank it's not that big of a deal. But I suspect that's not the majority here. I'll leave it at that.

Default of course it makes more fiscal sense to just keep the B6, but...

...his original question was whether to trade for the '07 now, or wait and trade for the '08. My response was directed to that question. The depreciation of the '07 or the '08 is IRRELEVANT to the original question.

Default I am in the same spot as you....

went to look at the car in person and fell in love without even test driving it (they wouldn't offer). But, since i am in a lease and have no equity in my car, i am looking at financing the whole amount or leaseing, and leasing looks horrid right now for this car. I just helped my friend lease a 750i (75K car) for $999/36 and nothing down. This one comes out to something in the $1300 range....
