Are ppl still running up and down the powerband with the engine under load or just driving ??
I haven't been doing engine decels from redline since the end of the 1500mi breakin

Not true...
I asked while I was at the plant in Ingolstadt.
I was told only a few cars go on test drives there after the engines are in and those will have at most 40 miles.
Audi is not putting 1000 break-in miles on every car/engine that comes out of there.
The engines might be tested and run for a period of time, but it's unlikely that it's been run for very long.

i dont care what the manual says, that is actually for another purpose.
the motor is infact broke in, do you really think audi would rely on some idiot consumer to break in a $23k motor and risk them not doing it correctly? I think not, the motors are cycled through a standard break in and then a simulated 500 miles of driving.
