Default Yep, Makes good sense for a track car or occasional driver like the lotus

That really does not make sense for a daily driver like the RS4, now does it?

Default A WEEK without the car? Yeah that makes tons of sense for a car like the RS4

if you have no intentions of tracking it..

Not!

Default Ex M3 owner here...clues inside...read

I had a 2002 M3.

Two SMG gearbox failures in 20,000 miles of light, I mean LIGHT, driving.

Heater NEVER worked...ever...three trips to dealer.

Driver's seat broke in 5,000 miles.

Oil consumption exactly on par with the RS4; 1 qt every 1500-2000 miles.

FAST FORWARD:
Acquired a LOANER RS4 to compete in Bullrun (www.bullrun.com)

8 days, 7 nights, 4100 miles, three track sessions, a drag race sessions, hours at speeds in excess of 140mph, followed up by another 4,000 miles of normal hard city and freeway driving....NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM. NOTHING.

So I bought one for myself.

Default what constitutes a "fair chance"? a couple problems i have with that statement...

...how many RS6s have actually had that happen? real numbers. of the 1200 +/- that came to NA, how many documented failures? i feel bad if you've had issues, especially if Audi or your dealer has dragged their feet on it. but that is an individual experience, not statistically siginificant.

the several RS6s i personally know, including my own, are in the 25K to 50K+ range, and have no DRC issues at all. that includes cars that are currently or have been tracked in the past.

there have been several notable DRC failures amongst the RS6 board users, but you expect to hear people with problems posting on forums. people don't post: "Hay! My DRC still works!"

now to the RS4, don't you think that maybe Audi has improved their approach to DRC over the last few years? if it's a junk technology, why would they put it on their premiere sports sedan? again? just to invite trouble? FWIW, the RS4 feels totally different than the RS6 in all aspects of ride, handling, steering, etc. i highly doubt the RS6 DRC (problematic or not) is just bolted onto the RS4.

Default My point is: then it should be a "skip"

I'm sick of people in the "enthusiast community" buying things, not maintaining them, and then bitching when those things break. Buy it, use it, but if you know you're well beyond the recommended maintenance, refrain from making the "Ohlins suck" post when your never-maintained-in-four-years shocks fail.

Default Good post.

What caused you to sell the 6.0VT?

I love that car -- really hated to see my uncle sell his.

Default My point is: many have touted that DRC should be immediately replaced with Stasis Ohlins

But, coming with that decision is another set of long term maintenance and reliability issues.

Default Two different chassis.... the RS6 is a wet noodle compared to the B7 chassis.

Beyond just the DRC the cars will behave differently due to the chassis and weight.

I tracked my RS6 and had no problems with my DRC with 49k on the clock. If I did not plan to trade the car in I would have upgraded to the Ohlins set up.

As for improvments to the system. I did hear they did make some improvements but I do not know what they were.

Default Must be the chassis and suspension tuning, can't be the weight

RS6 weighs in at a curb weight of 4024 lbs
RS4 weighs in at a curbe weight of 3957 lbs

It's doubtful that 67 lbs will make that much difference
