don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of sirius and regularly listen to lots sirius programming on all my cars but how on earth can you say that HD radio wasteful when IT'S FREE. Yes, the receiver itself is not free but as far as subscriptions go, there are no subscriptions because it's free. I have an HD Radio AVR at home and in the bedroom and it sounds much better than regular radio and sirius. It's akin to having over-the-air HDTV channels over regular SD channels. The sound quality blows away sirius' highly compressed material. I have heard HD radio on a friend's 08 M5 with the M-Audio system and back-to-back with Sirius, it's like night and day. HD radio sounds awesome and has the sound fidelity of a CD. Unfortunately, my '06 M5 didn't have that option but I'm glad the new M3 will. So spare me your unfound "HD radio is waste of money" speech because it's not any more of waste of money than a subscription to Sirius' low-fi sound. I enjoy Sirius for the their FCC and commercial-free programming as much I enjoy HD Radio for it sound quality.
