Default Weekend drive time is exactly why I CAN'T own a car like a Porsche.....

A lot of my weekend time is spent carting my kids from one thing to another. My fun driving time is interspersed with kid transport. As such, for me to enjoy my car on the weekends, when I have time to drive, it has to be readily interchangeable between kid transporter and thrill machine. My drive to work is only 8 minutes so that doesn't really allow me to enjoy driving time either.

So, in my circumstance, the RS4 is perfect, although I do agree, it is not a pure sports car and doesn't drive like one. I do own a two-seater pure sports car and I'm thinking of selling it because it barely sees 1000 miles per year. It just sits in my garage most of the time even on nice weekend days.

Default see, this is why I bought the RS4 too (i have two young boys), but....

i have found that i dont really want to drive it sporty/agressive with them in the car, and when i do, it makes them sick in the back in their car seats :-)

so i am thinking that getting an a4 or something else tame as a daily driver and going back to a raw weekend sportscar is the way to go, could probably still get one of them in the front seat with me, or at the very least, enjoy those (somewhat) rare moments when i can take it and drive alone...

dont sell your sportscar, you will miss it

Default +1

The RS4 is perfect for you for the same reasons I love it as a daily driver. It looks great, handles well, awesome V8 sound, Quattro, best interior, all the creature comforts. The car is ridiculous for a luxury/sport sedan but it is not a sports car.

I think you'll miss your two seater if you decide to sell it. It might only get 1000 miles a year but I'm sure they are a great 1000 miles. Besides, dad deserves his toy too.

Default It's not that I drive fast with my kids in the car, but.....

consider this typical scenario:

Saturday a.m.: Take kids to soccer practice driving "normally". Drop them off, then have a fun ride by myself to the supermarket, post office, hospital to make rounds, etc. Go back to soccer practice and take kids to friends house for play date then have a fun ride home on my own. Have a fun drive again to pick up kids in the evening from friends house, then drive them home "normally" in safe secure vehicle. On occasion, I also get to drive my kids to school. A private school about 12 miles away. Drive them to school "normally" then take some fun roads back home on my own. This is the kind of double-duty I am talking about.

Default What Porsche are you looking at?

Currently involved in the sale of two, a Cayman S and 996 C4s supercharged. Let me know if you make the move. Hate to loose a Audi guy, but p-cars are my second love.
