is my car broke or is it my brain?
a few months ago i paired my phone via bt with the car. my phone at the time sucked so i stopped using the bt feature. got a new phone and i can't get in to even configure it. when i press the tel button it says phone is not available. hitting setup does nothing. also, the mode and talk buttons on my steering wheel do nothing. aren't they supposed to control something?
thanks

and it gets better. i go to remove the headunit to make sure all the connectors are on good and the god damn removal tools are now stuck. funny that i've used them before with no issues, but now they won't come out. looks like a trip to the dealer for me and until then i get to drive around with big metal ninja stars hanging off my radio. so pissed right now.

you don't even have to touch the headunit... read on
To pair your phone with the BT in the car, you have to leave the car in park. If nothing is paired, the car's BT radio will shut off, when it is moving.
Then using your phone, try to 'find" the car's BT kit. It's usually called "Audi something", with a bunch of numbers.
After you find it, pair the phone with the BT, using the pin "0000", and it should work fine now.

Nope the pin is 1234. Do this bring up phone press setup. Reset defaults and delete all devices. Make sure your phone is discoverable. Turn the car off, pull out the key, and open the door. close the door, restart the car and go through the pairing process on your phone. I do this all the time for customers.

stopped in to the dealer. they got the removal keys out thankfully. tried pairing my phone and my wife's. when the dude was going through the menus on the headunit he said "other stuff" is missing/doesn't look right so they're going to look at it later this week.

Re: Certain phones dont work. Verizon razr v3c worked but v3m will not.
just to close the loop on this the dealer found some module to be failed and had to order a new one. it's under the passenger seat and connects to the bluetooth adapter. so it was the car that was broke and not me
