Default As for the M1 comparion, it was apples to apples at the same mileage

I posted that and the results are significant.

Default well, Scott

this is a tough one to resolve, either way.

i'm done arguing oil with you, and you can hold me to that. i may ask a general question now and then, because i value your opinion.

anyway, same thing with the different gas and gas additives. we aren't going to agree.

in a nutshell, with all the oils, gas choices, and fuel cleaners out there, i don't understand the basis for recommending one exclusively, especially some of these off-the-wall brands and blends you're coming up with.

but, hey, like you say, experimentation(within reason) is good. that's how you find out.

Default Re: then expect resistance

look at the M1 vs Castrol comparison. i am curious how the M1 can have less iron in the oil(from wear) and then show a higher iron wear number. it doesn't make sense. the Castrol, with more suspended iron particles in the oil, should show a higher iron wear rate.

Default none of the variables are common, so I would expect different results.

the problem here is that you're assuming the oil is making the difference. Different driving styles, different total mileage, different mileage on the oil...if you can't control for those variables, you can't make any conclusions about anything the oil is doing. And these are just the variables you've presented...what about differences in ambient temperature, driving conditions (multiple short trips vs. longer trips), 'dusty' conditions, etc?

I still think you're wasting your time, and inappropriately influencing people here.
