Re: why would you race from the *bottom* of 3rd gear against anything?
I think they did that on purpose to show the difference between the 2 cars in 3rd gear pull only.. wasnt a "real" race I guess

a stock S4 would probably do almost as well in that particular pull.
the RS4 motor is tuned for high RPM power, so it makes no sense to do pulls starting at anything below 5500rpm, preferably 6500rpm, unless you want to demonstrate the lack of low RPM torque.

Agree...from 2k to 5k, S4 and RS4 almost even in pulls I've done..
at 5k RS4 pulls, and pulls real hard at 5500, esp when S4 has to shift....
A number of cars will pull the RS4 if you are not near 5k rpms....that said...thought of a SC sounds good

The RS4 "probably would have won"? Not even maybe.
The S4 (with stock exhaust) dynoed at 30hp more than that RS4 (with Milltek) on the same dyno on the same day. The S4 has gobs more torque and power everywhere (about 60 more in the midrange). The RS4 could <b>not</b> have won if they were both in their sweet spot. Yes, the race would have been closer, but still a loss.
