Default NO MAG = multiple misfires in multiple cylinders???? or at least that is........

what the dealer found this morning. They cleared them out and the engine light is now off. They are going to look further into it on Wednesday.

Default Yuck

Multiple misfires could be due to bad fuel, or carbon deposits on the intake valves, or .... Keep us all posted.

I always use Shell 93 but I put Exxon 93 in that morning. Could the car be that picky?

Default Don't know ...

But there is a guy up on Cape Cod that had his RS4 at the dealer with the heads pulled and carbon deposits on the intake valves. The factory said it was due to bad gas. This engine may be more sensitive because of direct injection. It will be interesting to hear what your service tech says.

This is one of the reasons why I use FP3000 or FP60 in my fuel. They definitely keep the injectors clean, and help to remove deposits. I keep a bottle in the side pocket of my trunk for every fillup.

Default Info on FP60/FP3000

FP60 and FP3000 are fuel additives designed to promote more efficient burning, additional cleaning of the fuel injectors and combustion chamber deposits, while adding some lubrication for the fuel pump, injectors and upper cylinder region. FP60 has been around for over 20 years. FP3000 is new and not yet available, except for fleet buyers and some early users.

Here is some more info on them.

You can order directly from

or from the LCD website.

I've also started testing another upper cylinder lubricant, specifically to reduce oil fuel dilution, and should have initial results back in about a month. Unfortunately, it is only licensed for off-road usage.
