The ongoing B5 S4/B7 RS4 wars......

Yes, some are trolling and are having extra fun. But that is because with guys like Xxx x. is just so damn funny.
But don't let one thing be lost on you. The B7 RS4 is a major dissapointment in terms of expectations and progress. B5 to B7 (Let's call it 1.5 generations, and all we get is extra 40 HP, no extra torque and extra weight?)
It is still a damn nice car, but the kids modding B5s dreaming that one they too may be able to get RS4 are looking at a fat athlete on stereoids... their superhero is dead, dream is gone.
You need to understand that 500HP S4 DAILY DRIVER is something that one can buy for 25 to 30K. Yes, it will have 50K miles on it, and few more creaks and rattles than the uber solid B7 cars. But it is still FAR above a 500 HP honda. (It is still a daily driver.) But it is an aging car, usually car manufacturers offer an incentive to upgrade to the next model. Unfortunately Audi fell short here. We have NOWHERE to go... M5 (maybe M3) and the new 997 Turbo are few options there. But we love Audis, Audi just does not love us back enough to build a proper car for us.

Most these guys don't want hear it. They did not own B5 S4's and can't relate to our dilema. They are so egocentric they think we just want to bash them and their car. For the last time... I think the B7 RS4 is a super car! More power to you for buying it! But its not what most of us B5ers have been waiting for!

Your post emphasizes HP *yet again*!!
My goodness, has nobody been paying attention? Audi went in a new direction because they are looking to catch up to BMW in the area of finesse and refinement.
Consider the following:
1) Superior Gearbox
2) Better stock clutch
3) The best steering feedback and feel of any Audi period!
4) A 60/40 torque split and the best handling and balance (despite its weight) of any stock Audi.
5) An engine that is a blessing to be able to drive daily, of which the responsiveness and auditory music is practically peerless.
Its almost as if B5ers either don't care about these things or just flat out aren't aware that Audi has made incredible progress in these areas and the only place to get them are in the B7 RS4.
If these things don't matter to you, then yeah you'll be pissed that Audi has dropped the torque drenched world of turbos.
But as its being discussed elsewhere on these pages the Germans are headed towards more refinement, with AMG favoring NA cars instead of SC.
Don't you at least get this? Feel free to disagree, but at least wake up to the idea that HP is not everyone's idea of the allmighty ride.
Someone else here posted they have a B5 that can get to 60 in under 3 seconds. Holly ****, that is faster than a 997 GT3 RS and the latest from Ferarri.
Do you think people who are lined up for the aforementioned cars are going to be dissapointed knowing about your S4?

At the moment Audi is catering to our camp, I don't know how long that will last, things do go in cycles.
Maybe the new RS6 will come with turbos?
