I can't find the recent thread where a few of us were interested in whether the Pioneer shallow 8" speaker...

...would fit in place of the original woofer on the parcel shelf. Well it does!
That's as far as I have got today. It's not hooked up to an amplifier, but the fit was the main thing for this post. The original cover was cut to allow the rear of the new speaker to poke through. With some silicon caulk around the face touching the cover, the cover clicks back into the housing like stock.
Bentley manual is your friend btw.

The unit is removed from the inside of the car and access is by unclipping and removing the meshed cover, then pulling up the rear parcel shelf a bit. It would take me a while to go through the details, and this is a rush post with the main point being that this speaker fits.
Don't forget that it will hardly be audible by just plugging in the standard amp, this is a 4 Ohm speaker and the original is 1 Ohm. I've never seen a 1 Ohm speaker before!

and after will be needed. How far will the woofer protrude into the trunk? All you'll need now is a smallish amp to power this free air speaker. Interesting to hear if there is a noticeable sound quality difference. Good find with that speaker.

Wish I could have found a smaller amp than the Kenwood I got. Have to find agood place for it now. Also somewhere to tap off power, even though the battery is right there, there's no tap off lugs.
