The dealership got a request to do an "ECU probe" and found that the max RPM my engine has experienced (presumably since birth?) is 8241 RPM (****, I had 9 more revs I coulda used against that M5!)

The response came back that a new engine and tranmission assembly with a factory service tech would be here early next week to do the repair. They said the old engine/tranmission would be shipped back for further diagnoses of the failure. The limiting factor is the shipping time to get the parts here.

I can say that Audi seems to be doing all they can on this issue and really repsonsive to get it sorted out. This will be my third major issue with an Audi in many years and so far all 3 have been handled above my expectations - and I am not known to be easy in my service expectations.

I will keep everyone updated and try to get some pictures of the beast in pieces.
