There are several threads in the archive where people have listed their oil consumption and fill.
This particular posting shows my results:
https://forums.audiworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/23769.phtml
With my break-in method, and changing the oil at 1800 miles I got the following:
Here are my oil consumption results:
1.5 Qts/1800 miles -- factory oil
Zero Qts/(1800 to 5000 miles) -- Elf Excellium LDX 5W-40
Zero Qts/(5000 to 6400 miles) -- Motul E-tech 8100 0W-40
I am now at 7000 miles with ZERO oil consumption since 1800 miles. My oil level sits at the middle of the top hash mark, and has since both of my oil changes.
If you have not changed your oil by now, you should. If you have been easy on your engine, your are doing it a disservice. This engine needs to be run in hard to seat the rings. If you do not, and deposits form on the ring and piston grooves, you may not be able to reverse the process, and may doom this engine to have higher oil consumption and lower power output.

i think it's safe to say that if the oil warning is red, you're fux0red. yellow just means you're in danger of being fux0red. is that a reasonable assumption?
