Default The BMW "purists" myth...

you mean just like they did with 4 doors, turbos, AWD, V8, and Bangle styling. The Pavlonian "purists" take it in the rear from BMW all the time.

Default Lexus makes very comfortable cars

If you just want to move about in luxury and not worry about the act of driving, Lexus is great. And their service is other worldly. My wife loves her Lexus and the way the dealership treats her.

But, I agree, "numb" is a good way to describe the driving experience. Pretty boring after a while.

Default Not impressed

I am in the market to replace my 01 MB S500 (I know, it is a piece of shxx) and went to the Lexus showroom to check out the LS460. It's very nice and the refinement is top notch. However, there is no sense of occasion and that important feeling of seeing something special is not there. The GS is a very nice given the price but IMO the LS is way overpriced.

Default That's their flagship, and the technology ...

and comfort level in that thing is amazing! So of course it's big $'s. This is assuming you're talking about the new just introduced LS.

Wouldn't be for me though, or any of their many other models.

of course. I am just making a comment about Lexus in general. I know Lexus is big in the US but elsewhere it is just so so, depending on which model you are talking about. I can see how the IS & the GS sells but the LS is just not there yet. It may win the gadget count but it feels a class below.

Default Lexus could have made this a beautiful car......

Instead they made it look like a "too rich" boy racer sleaze machine. Seriously, the IS 350 is a beautiful vehicle. If Lexus did to that car what Audi did to the S4 to get to the RS4 in terms of bodywork, the car would have looked spectacular. That front fender looks absolutely ridiculous on a car of this caliber.

Hey....maybe BMW finally got rid of Bangle. Appears that he has been picked up by Lexus!
