Default Re: Bring it back to the dealer. Sounds like you noticed it the next day. They should fix it for f

The dealer, car transport company, and I are not seeing eye to eye on this one. The salesman promised to fix the scratch, but after I sent the quote they basically stopped answering the phones or returning calls. I have Audi USA involved now and I am supposed to hear back from the dealer 'within 48 hrs' according to them. Based on the 'don't worry we'll fix it' email I got from my salesman I wasn't too upset. However, when they stopped returning calls and then outright told me 1) they wouldn't fix it and 2) it must have been my fault, then I got upset with the situation. I need to find a good shop that can fix the problem with minimal to no paint work. Most were talking about paint on 4 panels to blend it in + removing my clear bra...

Default Wow...what a bunch of idiot shops

After 22 years of building and modifying cars, I am still amazed at how retarded so many body shops seem to be.

If you were to take that to my paint guy, he'd say that the blending area would be just a few inches in either direction and certainly not beyond the molding above or below. Probably a $350 job to do that.

And what the hell do you mean about putting an extra couple of layers of paint on the car being troubling? What, are you concerned about the weight? Wow...who feeds you people this drivel?

Default I would insist the dealer fix it. You shouldn't even have to worry about this. You just spent $75k

if they are not responding to you take it up the ladder. You shouldn't need A of a on this

Default 2nd this also, and documenting how the scratch occurred is the key.

worst case, you get it fixed yourself, then take the dealership to small claims court....but I doubt it would have to go that far.

I had the porsche/audi shop look at it and did research on the web for the 'best' shop in austin and had them look at it.

a couple layers of paint just above and just below the scratch or contained to the lower door is what I am after. 'Troubling' to me is putting paint all over the side of my new car (3 panels), which is what I don't want. Paint weight was not a concern (LOL).... I have a couple more high end shops to visit this week. Hopefully one of them can do what your paint guy can.

Default OK Bob

I deleted my phone number. But given that I'm in sales, it's all over the web anyway.
