it's pretty simple
when you remove the large air feed leading from airbox(where the filter is) to front of car, it should be at the end of the air feed tubing right at top of the airbox.
the illustration is cramming the parts into a space, rather than how they are actually laid out in the engine compartment, so don't get hung up on that.
just follow instructions in the service manual for air filter replacement, and they will lead you to the snow screen. remember, it's on top of the airbox where the fresh air tubing enters. you won't see it until you remove the air feed tubing.

should be referred to as the 'suck a$$' design
they could have easily placed it at the connection at the front of the accordion section, where it would do the same job and access would be easy, w/o the thing falling out and dumping debris down into the air box due to where it's placed now.
