Default I find many like smoking because stock are too low-end looking

too brighty red
many VAG cars have darkened rears from the factory on the higher priced option cars, and VAG_COM can set the brightness to accomodate.
Of course really dark only suits some colors.

Default Are these Lamin-X?

I too have a Sprint (Ti where they will pick up the black exhaust as well as window trim), but think I will pass. Do have the front yellow film though, and I love it. BTW, replace the stock bulbs with true yellow ones (PIAA is good but pricey!), they are really yellow and illuminate the area down low very good. I noticed a nice difference when I drove for a few days in VT under fog and snow conditions. Much debate on this board about it, but I love them.

I also have the blue Lamin-X film on the headlights, see my gallery. Love it too, gotten only complements as it gives a slight hue and merges in just perfect with the car.

Take the film off the taillights and put it on the corner markers.

yeah, laminX

i was considering doing yellow bulbs for fogs as well. where did you get your piaa from?

i was debating putting the blueish film on the headlights (to also protect them) but curious if it dulls the look of the HID at night?

Default Try Nokia or Razo bulbs, much cheaper than PIAA

There is a Japanese food store in Edwater NJ called Mitsua (right below the GW bridge), and there is a little store/booth that sells all kind of Japanese (and other) automotive products. They have those there, usually about 1/2 the $90-$100 PIAA price!

As far as there is any distortion on the front xenons, non whatsoever. It is only a slight hue, nothing that affects the look. I too was concerned if it will look too blue like a fake rice-aroni xenon kit, but it doesn't. It is a thick film though as opposed to a 3M film, so def protects the headlights from road rash.
