Default Temporary space-saver spare wheel?

I don't fancy going on a long road trip without any spare wheel or jack.

I've bought a proper A4/S4 jack and tool box and modified the plastic filler in the well in the trunk to accomodate them.

Clearly a spare wheel won't go in the usual place (the battery is there), so it's got to go in the trunk and a full size wheel will take up a LOT of space (even an 18" optional wheel). A space saver would be narrower, leaving me more trunk space.

But I can't find a temporary space saver spare wheel that will fit an RS4 - AFAIK we have to have at least 18" wheels to clear the brake calipers, and I can't find a space-saver bigger than 15".

Any ideas?

Default Somebody suggested having a spare that will clear the rear brakes but not the fronts...

If you get a front flat, you would have to swap out a rear wheel/tire to the front and then use the spare on the rear. I'm not sure how small of a wheel would fit the rear, but you should have a few more options doing it that way.

Sounds a plan - who knows the smallest wheel that will clear the rear brakes?

Default Found a possible route - comments?

Audi temporary spare wheel 8E0 601 027 C 03C fitted with Continental CST17 (emergency use spare tire) 135/90R17 tire.

That's the largest rolling radius wheel/tire combination that will fit I can find so far.

Interestingly there is a 175/80R19 version of the Continental CST17 - so if we could find a suitable 19" wheel that would be a better choice I reckon? Any ideas?
