If I understand correctly, you need the multimedia interface and a separate dvd player to watch a dvd movie? And then whatever video in motion software/hardware for passenger entertainment while moving...

the video in motion bit. Then the multimedia adapter translates the information from the dvd player into something the RNS-E can understand to display video.
The DVD drive in the RNS-E cannot read DVD movies even if you have the video in motion enabled.
