Default I think it is wise for Audi...

To make TPMS standard on a car without a spare tire. Some other manufacturers still have it as optional even though they don't offer a spare.

Default So what does this mean w/o spare..

Is there at least room for a spare under the boot?

And should RS4 owners who favor practicality buy a spare for the car and what kind of spare would one need to get to support the TPMS?

Default Can a spare be fitted if a small high-tech battery is used?

Has anyone considered if a full size spare (snow tire?) can be fit into the spare hole if the battery is replaced with something more advanced, like an Optima (see link)? I'm thinking of bringing along a mounted snow tire on the more remote drives in the West where it can be a long way to a 19" tire. Now to find a second set of TPM transmiters.

Three weeks and counting down to delivery!

http://www.optimabatteries.com/publish/optima/americas0/en/config/home.html</a

Default The room for a spare tire...

Is taken by the battery and the tire fixing apparatus. You can always throw a spare and a jack in the trunk but that may take away some valuable cargo space.

Default Damn, didn't know that.. kinda sux.

Is there even a spare hole shaped area? Or is that gone too?

Throwing a spare back in the trunk presents problems, such as the weight bouncing around in the back. i dont' like that idea at all.

damnit..

I had it deactivated on my B7 S4 to swap wheels. Might take much convincing of the dealer.

Default The Spare 'Hole' is only for the battery

I measured the battery compartment on my RS-4 and IMHO there is no way any spare is going to fit into that opening. It is unique to the RS-4. So much for a 'good' idea.

The spare is just going to have to go in the trunk (boot) with straps.

Default I guess that's why runflat is standard on every RS4..

W/o the spare, you need the extra insurance of driving to a place to get a spare..

how good are runflat, do they really work and let you drive some distance at reasonable speeds?

Default Where did you get that idea from?

The RS4 doesn't come with runflat tires. The P-Zero Rosso and the Pilot Sport 2 are NOT runflats.
