I had the same dilemma, I went with the S4 because it's an Avant. If both sedans, then get the RS4.

Default Used RS4 is a bargain for what you get. Although used S4 is also.

Used RS4 vs. new S4? this is not a question!

Default I feel no audi or vw is very reliable in the long run and the motor for an RS4 is over 20 grand...

so even in the off chance you have a failure do you really want to put out 20 grand to replace a motor on a car that will be worth less then 40 grand a few years from now? Even my S4 is only worth about 20 grand right now and the motor is a 12 grand motor. Just to replace the pullies for the serpentine you have to pull the front end off of our cars. Yes, they are expensive to repair and no I dont think they will be all that reliable just as I have never heard of any vw or audi being all that reliable. I dont think they're junk and I dont think they're a land rover or a jaguar but theyre not hondas. Ive had 6 grand in repairs in just 13 months of owning my B6 S4 but not many people have seen how these cars are at 80 thousand miles like I have.

I came from an S4, just picked up my RS4 yesterday... trust me on this one thing... if you get the S4 and then sometime later you drive the RS4, you will kick yourself so hard in the berries.

I really liked my S4.

I LOVE my RS4.
