Valentine One installed, hardwiring is easy
I have it mounted just to the left of the review mirror. The Homelink has a switched power feed, but because it is located in the visor, I moved to plan "B":
The flat power cord is easily tucked along the front edge of the headliner, down the a-pillar, around the dash, and into the fuse panel. It's a very clean and super-easy wire route, it's almost as if Audi had it planned out for us.
The fuse panel is behind the vertical black cover on the side of the dash when you open the driver's door. The cover pops right off. I used an 8mm hex screw adjacent to the fuse panel for ground, and tied the power wire into the fused side (right hand) of the 5amp Homelink fuse labeled "Garage Door Opener".
In all honesty, it took not more that 15 minutes taking my sweet **** time. Next time, 5 minutes max.
Cheers!

I found the A-pillar is a tight fit...
Did you actually remove the a-pillar cover, or just stuff the cord in the gap? On my B5 the gap is much bigger and it was easy (I wired my V1 exactly like you did), but a quick attempt on my RS 4 found it had a much closer tolerance.

You should get the Nobel Prize
Thanks for this hint! I've been fussing about whether/who/how to install my V1 for a month. Now I just did it myself in 15 minutes.
It makes hours of hanging out on AW all worthwhile. :-)
