So I read here that the August, 2006 issue of R&T has a feature on the RS4. I go to three stores, and still they only have the July, 2006 issue in stock (mind you, I am not a subscriber and it is already July 5th!).
I do subscribe to C&D though, and I was excited that I got the August, 2006 issue in the mail on Monday. I open it up, and what does it have? MZ4 Coupe versus Caymnan S. Cool, but no full test of the RS4.
What pisses me off about C&D is that they save most of their full tests for BMW and Honda, while Audi and VW often get their numbers measured during comparison tests. Thus Honda and BMW usually get multiple tests.
Mark my words- the RS4 will be seen formally in C&D once the 2007 M3 is out, in a comparison test with the M3 4.0 Coupe and C55/63. This will only be after the M3 gets its own full test in this magazine.
Ahhhrg...just venting.

the Audi S and RS cars, but always is able to put the BMW M cars in the spot light. Well, I believe the B5 S4 took first in two comparos, the B6 S4 took first in two as well, and the C5 RS6 took first in one (all C&D).

I believe individual test is coming. If you are correct, I am ready to co-sign a letter to C&D.

in europe...using a Euro RS4...this was months ago. I hope to see a full US-spec. test, but my fears are it won't be until the fall when it is up against the new M3 4.0i Coupe and C55K/C63 AMG

This was back in 2003, right when the V8 S4 was just hitting the U.S., but they preferred it to the M3 and the Mercedes AMG C-class (C36 I think). I think they'll probably give the RS4 a review very soon - the press intro for that car wasn't that long ago here in the L.A. area, so I'd bet they'll do a very thorough review of the car next month..

If you remember they did a comparo article with the RS4(pre production), M3 and C55 in Sept 05. UNFORTUNATELY, much of the data was *ESTIMATED). Now if you were editor of C&D and knew that pre production M3s would be available in a few months, wouldn't it make sense to wait until an M3 was available and do a comparison test. That's what everyone on this forum really wants anyway. Nunbers on the Rs4 are interesting, but more so when compared to BMW's legitimate competitor.

C&D stated in one of the previous RS4 "preview" articles that they prefer to test cars that have about 10-20K miles on them. They may be waiting for the RS4 test cars to get run around a bit so they can get the best 0-60 times. That said, I do agree they are the most BMW biased car mag on the rack. When they rated the V8 S4 over the current M3, I thought I was halucinating. If there is any fault with the RS4 (which I'm sure they'll work day and night to find) it will be the title of the article while the M3's faults will be in a foot note on the last page.
