Hi everyone,
Wondering if i can get some opinions on my situation...
I had been expecting a moro s4 from my dealer in mid september, but it has been stuck at port for a month now with engine problems (i'm def staying away from that problem child). Once he got word of the problem, he started to look around for another car available and traded with another dealer for me. I was under the impression he was getting a new car off the boat, but when it finally came in last night, and I went for my test drive, I was surprised to find 430 miles already on it! Apparently this car was sitting at a dealership in Ohio and my dealer in MI traded for this vehicle.
My questions are:
1) considering this car is a tiptronic, how much should i worry about the way it's been driven in the first 430+ miles? at least no clutch worries i suppose, but what about engine break in?
2) since the car is not in my 1st choice of colors (both exterior and interior), although i am certainly happy with the new ones, and more importantly considering the 430+ miles already on it, will i/should i be able to haggle somewhat on the price? what, if anything, seems reasonable off MSRP to you guys for that kind of milleage?
Thanks for your help, and here's to hoping I get to join you lucky few sometime next week!

I bought mine with about 250 - someone had backed out of the deal and it sat for a week because it had no prem pack. It's waranteed so unless you're planning on keeping it long past 50k, no big deal. Some will tell you you're nuts to buy a car with more than 20 miles, I don't buy that. He should give you something off, but it's a pretty strict pro-demand environment.

what dealer? fred lavery was willing to go 1000 off msrp on a new one with 30 miles... they also have a silver one there for sale. it had 30 miles on it.
I wouldnt buy it... 430 miles is alot of miles. its like a demo now... unless they gave me 4000 off sticker.

It has a warranty, sure...but all those people with clutch/tranny problems right now could care less if it's covered. It's a brand new car, and it is annoying the hell out of them.
People have noticed how MBs are in the shop once a month. Sure, they give you a free loaner and there's no cost to you, but is the headache worth it?
I'd rather have to wait another few months or just buy an m3 (if possible) rather than having that much doubt in my "new car."

And he said 'don't sweat it, it's made of metal...' No one has ever been able to explain to me just what the risk is (other than brake rotors). But I'm all ears.....
