Took the S4 in for its 25k service today. Service mgr told me that a "Recall" notice had just popped up in the system for an engine control module software update. It was the first he had heard of it and suspected it had just been sent out. He couldn't perform the update on my car because he doesn't have the new software yet. I'm not sure if Audi is going to be proactive and notify people or wait till the next time you bring it in for service to tell you because he said the update isn't a true recall since it isn't correcting a safety issue. I'm also not sure if this affects certain model years or all the 4.2L V-8's.

Call your service depts and reference "IM Campaign".

Interesting, I had that update performed about 6 months ago when I brought my car in for an unrelated issue. The SM didn't have any detailed info on the update, just said it was emissions related.
