They are only 215 mm wide, so the 50 profile is correct to keep the same rolling diameter.

Default doesnt rolling diameter have to do with wheel/tires in relation to each other?

i meant that profile will throw your speedo off

Default Very slightly You can also run a 205/50 17" in the winter....

I used to. Narrow tires are much better in the snow then wide tires....

Your speedo will be off ever so slighly but no so much that it will be a problem.

Try the link below plug in the standard size which is 235-40/18 with 205-50/17 The difference is -1.3% which you can get a percent difference just from having fresh versus bald tires.

You do a 215-50/17 you're even closer at .2%. Again this is like a fresh tire versus one thats been drive a few thousand miles.

I would bookmark this page btw it comes in handy.

Side note if you check out snow tire prices on tire rack you'll see that narrow tires cost a lot less.

See what I mean about cars in snow liking narrow tires?

Default i understand narrow is better in the snow, but for load capacity and safety...

the purpose of the wintersport is that it's a good tire in the dry + in the snow. i would not run a 205 or 215 in the dry!

Default The tires are still XL rated so load and safety is fine. Trust me if you're going....

to drive in any real snow (like driving to and in Canada) you need a tire that is a little slimmer.

Default I am not saying 235 is a problem but for snow driving narrow is considered acceptable...

As long as the tires are XL rated you're home free. The LM25's on my car hit 140 a few times no issues (in the dry). Admittingly it does comprimise some of the ride etc. I also like a little more sidewall as pot holes can do a number on wheels. More sidewall offers a bit more cushion from denting a rim when mr pothole sneaks up after a big snow storm.

Default And in NYC that extra little bit of sidewall goes a long way in the winter months weather you...

have snow or not.
