Re: Alright... so the car does 5.9 ... then back to whats the difference the S4 is still faster ...
I agree on BMW's pricing dilemma. Maybe $2k more but I beleive that the PP will cost about $5k more. Which is not worth it. For that price I would get the S4, but only if it has a NAV w/map.

The base sticker price is something like $39K and doesn't include leather ...
I saw it al the LA Auto Show. It's a nice looking car, but I'm not sure if it's worth the premium over a regular 330i. The display car had some type of cloth (high quality) material for seating surfaces. I suspect that most people will want to get leather, so you will easily start at over $40K before adding any other options.

The 330i PP will not be 5.9 secs it will be 5.4 to 5.6 (read)
Before BMW posted the official number they said that the car was going to be .5 sec faster than the regular 330i.
Regular 330i has been testet from 5.8 to 6.1 even if the "official number is 6.4.
Also the new BMW Z4 has an "official" number of 5.9 secs and the car tested at 5.4 secs. This car is only around 130Lbs lighter than the 330i PP.
Last one ... the official umber for the 540i 6 speed sport is 5.9 too... (real number around 5.5).

PPackage is a $3900 option, but you get a lot more..
PPackage is a $3900 option, but you get a lot more stuff than just the 10 Hp...
Different suspension and exhaust
18" Wheels with nicer tires
Alcantara Steering Wheel
Exterior aerodinamics
Top speed is now up to 155 MPh (before limited to 130 I think)..
Carbon Cube interior trim
etc..
Also remember that you don't have to get the Sports package ($1200) or the 18" wheels ($900), so in reality the PP is only $1800.
You can have a 330i with PP leather and a "real" navigation system for around 41K.

weren't you the one conjecturing this before?
i thought we went through this a few months ago -- you've collected information from a bunch of disparate sources and now you're attempting to combine them and give the impression that you have some factual data (in particular, the use of "will" in your subject line). you have nothing of the sort; let's wait until the magazines do their tests rather than attempt to present opinions and conjecture as fact.

What is the final drive ratio on the S4? The 02 M roadster has a 3.15 final drive and I don't
recall any current BMW over 3.5. I thought the S4 was around 3.80 for a final drive ratio which would make put more power at lower speeds.
