We(A8L) are 4-5 MPH "off" from the reading to the actual speed.

Default Oil smell?.

I have also had an an oil smell (not burnt) come into the cabin at times, especially from the right side vent when the heater is on. I don't, however, detect any significant difference side to side in the engine bay. I'll try again after a drive.
There has never been a problem with the oil level dropping.

Default Its definately oil burning off on something hot......

I've had enough leaky cars to know that smell very well. Granted most of them had and extra 1, 5 and 0 in front of the 450, so with that sort of mileage i can sort of understand.

Default I get exactly the same smell. Always have and I still do at 23K Km

Dealer said they found no leaks etc... although the oil level does drop from time to time.

Let me know what you find out.

Default I believe you and I are both smelling the same thing...

Doesn't happen upon starinting the engine cold but if I drive it and the engine warms up and then shut down, and then fire up again a little while later (say 15 min or so), the smell is very prominent in the cabin (w/ heater on). Twice dealer said nothing wrong, no codes. Last trip I had them clean up the pollution filter and that seemed to help but it gradually coming back. Pisses me off!

Default Re: Same Smell

Not good to hear that the dealer has no solution. We are too far (90mi) from a dealer to go back and forth on it.
I did order a new pollution filter, but can't see where it goes. Did you get a new filter? Did the air passages need cleaning?
At times we have had some smell when first starting and have tried to manage it by not turning on the heater right away. We have also tried using the recirculation mode. But, then the smell comes again. There seems to be an oily smell in the garage as well. But, no oil consumption.
Will you try the dealer again?
