Default 75,000 MILE Service, for those who " want to know"

I have my car in for the 5k service (which just got done mind you). I pick it up later today, but i asked about the ol (for those that have READ the manual) 75,000 mile service which requires the timing chain to be adjusted...

well in order to do that you DO in fact have to take the engine out of the car. So I ask ok, how's about a minimal estimate on labor charge?

his response, Heh, I can tell you just bout 25 hours for removal and re-installation and that doesn't count for anything else.

so FWIW, keep this in the wayyyy back of your mind if you consider having the car past 75k.

it'll be about a 2-3K job when all's said and done.

yikes!!!!

$90.00 per our @ 25 hours = $2,250 (before tax)...

sigh..

Still looks cheap next to my Ferrari. 30,000 mile service was $8K on a well maintained car. I understand this is typical. While I understand we are talking Audi and not Ferrari, it is still a high performance vehicle. Thanks for the heads up./

Default that's dealer charge, somewhere like an independent shop

would do it for lot less, dealers are f*cking rape for out of warranty work, never take your car to them.

perfect example is the B5 s4, dealers charge 1500 or something to do timing belts on them, I could see an independent shop doing it for 1000 bucks easy, if not less.

Default But would you trust them to remove this engine if they have never seen it before in their life?

i wouldn't want to play test dummy.

Default a little birdy has told me...

it's much easier to remove an audi engine than many people would believe.
