Anyone know if there is a gap between the headlight assembly and the side fender of the car it will have issues with rain and moisture? The top right corner has a 1 cm gap and the headlight isn't flush and neither is the seal to the metal portion of the car.

Also is running different tires on this s4 a bad thing?

the left rear was a : dunlop 235/40r18
the right rear was :riken raptor 245/40zr18

This is going to be my first performance car purchase and appreciate all the help.

I have heard that this was the design and it is meant to take on and dispel moisture.

The size is most important but they might also wear at different rates since they are different compounds. Anyone who is respective of their awd would not use different tires unless they knew something really cool that I don't.

It's awesome but also not a toyota camry in terms of maintenance and service expense.

Default Re purchase of S4

You should have a pre-purchase inspection done. And no, you don't ever want to run different sized (or even same sized tires worn to more than 3/32 inch different) between tires. If you do run odd sizes, you can trash the quattro system (very expensive to fix)

The price is nice, but HUGE red flags seeing different tires. Totally agree with the above post. You must be **** with these cars and to know someone put 2 different tires on it with 2 different ratings means ...quick fix. SO....what else did they "quickly" fix on the car. I would run away!

Default Thanks for the quick replies all!

Appreciate all the advice. I've had a mechanic check it out for leaks and damage on the lift. No major issues were found. Also the car drives like a dream!

I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes.

Check the spare in the trunk ... I bet that tire / rim is toast. Lots, if they know a car has a full size spare will commonly swap out a curbed rim or a blown tire; and/or replace a tire they know won't pass inspection with the cheapest they can find.

How many owners and how did the dealer get it? Auction? Miles are low for a 2004, so I have a hard time imagining it was a thrasher.

Default Carfax warning!

The carfax for this vehicle lists an accident (at 43 miles!).

Is the title clean or a salvage title? An accident always significantly reduces the value of a car.

Was any paint/bodywork done as a result of this accident? If so, was the repair done correctly?

You are exactly right the spare was shot, he is putting a 'newer' one in there for me. He decided to put 2 new tires up front and move the 2 orignal to the back. front 2 are same brand, back 2 are same brand.

Will be test driving for vibrations tomorrow before.

He got it from a Doctor. that had actually done a surgery on the owner of the dealership.(Guy i've been dealing with)

He even called the Doctor and let me speak to him. He mentioned one accident where he hit a curb and bent a tie rod, but he did take it to Audi to be fixed but didn't show up on carfax..

The original owner was an Audi dealer that had it then sold to the Doctor. THe carfax would make your head spin, but i'll put the big QUESTIONS below so you can see.

My biggest question is how can the CPO this if it had an accident at 42 miles?? I thought CPO must have clean titles? Carfax error?

Also are all those repairs signs of major damage?

Default Re: new tires

With the quattro all wheel drive system, you cannot put only 2 new tires on the car. You must replace all 4. If there is a difference of 3/32 or more between tire depth, you can and often will ruin the entire quattro system.
