I purchased an '06 s4 in August. One week after I had it, I brought it into the shop for a transmission issue. The gears would grind when shifting from first to second. It eventually locked me out of second. Audi, after having the car for three weeks, replaced the transmission and clutch. Since I got the car back, it still occasionally grinds when shifting only from first to second. I took the car back in and the shop was not able to replicate the issue. It is still happening. What should I do?

there was actually an issue with the clutch that damaged the synchros as a result. i have been driving manual for 15 years and never had a problem before.

it did not occur while driving with the service manager. there is really nothing specific that i am able to do that will cause this to happen. it has been pretty random, but only happening between 1st and 2nd.

This is a common issue discussed before if you do some searches.
You have to pause just slightly longer between the 1-2 shift for the syncros to catch up since the gear ratio is large for that shift. Also, will get better after about 5k miles.
