Aftermarket Alarm Problem - PLEASE HELP!!!
I tried getting an aftermarket alarm installed on my car last weekend at one of the best shops in Houston, TX, and after 2 days, the shop finally told me that they could not install the alarm. Apparently, directechs.com (which is supposedly the universal DEI alarm installers' resource) does not even have a wiring diagram for the 2004 S4. They said that they spent hours manually probing wires in the driver's door, and they couldn't even find the lock/unlock wire.
Has anybody been successful in getting an aftermarket alarm installed on your car? If so, who / what shop did it? Do you know what resources they used? I have requested wiring diagrams from www.ahdol.com. If they don't come through, I guess I could splurge for the Bentley's Manual. Does anybody know if this would be sufficient for installing the alarm?

Answer
No, I have no experience with the unit. However.....Audis after a certain year use CANBUS. My understandng is that coded signals are sent to this BUS, including but not limited to, open/close door, open/close sunroof, open trunk, also detects signal from the engine/chassis.
If you have Onstar and don't use it, it actually has leads that are used by Onstar to lock/unlock doors, etc.
Try contacting the manufacturer for an expert opinion.
