I think it was a quote that was in Road & Track about why "Car people" didn't like Mercedes Benz cars. The answer was " it's not that we dislike Mercedes Benz, it's the people we see driving them that we dislike".

I have lived in a few different locations where status is key(miami region, LA area). These owners all seem similar, they enjoy there vehicles, they love to talk to fellow enthusiasts, and they ALWAYS think thier car is better . The only thing i ve noticed about those three types of cars is the publics perception.
MB: "you must be rich"
BMW: "You got money and you love cars"
AUDI: "You Wish you had a BMW or MB"
before you get ticked off, I'm just telling it how I've seen it, Hell this is my second S4. In the areas i've been there are plenty of "Status ******" who think nothing of AUDI. As to drivers having a poor dissposition I would have to give it to Vette owners. when purchasing a vette the price of surgically installing a stick in ones *** is included in the sticker :P

I would love to hate vettes because of their owners, but they are just so awesome. I agree though.

If we were into status we wouldn't be driving a car that 98% of the public thinks is a 30k A4. At least for me anyway. I actually like that fact that people dismiss audi's so easily. I'll feel really weird if I ever get a P-car and have people looking at it when I pull up somewhere.

People always had a attitude against the Porsche 911. Too much "your a rich jerk mentality." I like the Audi S cars because nobody knows what they are? Car people do and I like that.

I've also seen more CGTs this week than S4s.....the count on the CGTs is 3 S4s...two other ones and they were B5s (aside from H20 on sunday).

I never see any Audi "S" cars. I see alot of entry level BMW 3 series.
