for all those b5 haters!, the extra weight of the v8 could have made the diference, probably not:o)

Gentlemen--am on my way here from the B5 forum; sold my B5 Avant PES SC, bought an '05 S4 Avant...
The B5 is an excellent platorm, with a BOATLOAD of mods available for it---dare I say significantly more than what is out there for the B6--whether by design or happenstance--doesn't matter.
I am glad to have purchased (3 days ago) an '05 S4 Avant, which will be getting her share of mods, to be sure. The soon-coming PES G4 system included (was told by the PES folks today it will be out in January--est 450-to 470hp. Oh yeah, baby. They said est cost around 6 to 7G) At that point she will eat up 99% of M3's and practically 99% of the B5 s4's out there.
But make no mistake here, gentlemen--the B5 S4 is capable of some sick power--vastly more than the 'average' B6 S4; do not be deceived. Guy I know who now lives in Colorado (formerly from my back home of Seattle) has a 2001 B5 S4 that has been hugely modified, runs somewhere around 500hp. No Bs, no joke. Have seen the dyno sheets. Althougn he's also invested perhaps 10 to 12k in her so far. But such cars do exist, yes.
But at that point, with THAT kind of money invested, I could have an STS rear turbo system built--WITH Stinger standalone management--that would easily clear 600hp if done properly. The CI is there for it.
Food for thought...
We need to 'watch our step.'

That's interesting. I called 2 local shops who deal in AWE prods, both said that's BS, although
Although the first shop I called said it was true. Keep getting mixed info here...SOMEBODY PLEASE get one going! Want to unleash the real hidden power we all know that 4.2 V8 has!

I think it's very common knowledge...
That the B5 S4 is one of the most tunable cars out there, capable of 400-1000hp, depending on how crazy you get. Our cars, with the AWE/VF supercharger, can only expect to run door to door with the average, out of the box, stage 3 B5 S4 putting out less than 450hp at the flywheel, even if we're making 500hp. Our weight is a big penalty. Pull up next to B5 S4 making 400hp at the wheels and we're toast.
But again, few, if any, look down on the power potential of a B5 S4. If I had the supercharger I'd still be wary of any B5 S4 I saw.
