Default any ideas on cost of clutch replacement? just for the parts, not labor.

it's got 35k miles, should be at least 'normal' wear, not hard or excessive wear.

It's about $600 for disc, PP, and TO bearing.

Default A good mechanic can do it in 5-6 hours. So an honest and quality independent will charge...

anywhere from $350 to $450 labor. I believe the book allows up to 8 hours so dishonest people or shops that dont know what their doing will charge the full amount or close to $800. Dealerships charge upwards of $750 to $900.

Default i was quoted approx $500 for disc, PP & TO from my audi dealer. No labor.

No labor, because i'm having a new block installed and swapping the parts when they resinstall the motor.

Default That is the price I got for using remanuactured parts...

make sure you ask them about that. I contacted two dealerships and both actually offered my the cheaper price for the remanufactured parts withtout even telling me they were remanufactured. They actually told me they were new at first until I asked specifically. It's only about $60 more for the non remanufactured. Not saying yours is doing that but double checking is worth it.

Default ahhh, good call... i'll specifically ask that one... man what a pain...

thanks for the info.

geez... you'd think if you asked to replace the clutch, they'd spec new oem parts, not remanufactured ones... <shakes head>
