From what I understand by POP, they can get a quick read on how fast you are going, and then decide whether or not to lock-on and give you a ticket.
Truth is, if a cop wants to give you a ticket, he's going to find a way regardless. Pacing, lock-on, VASCAR, you name it.

Mike Valentine has something there that explains why it shouldn't be used to write citations... something around 80% error possibility, or some such.
Also, contrary to what Wes posted, I thought the V1 didn't detect it...

and we ran into each other randomly at a stoplight. He gave me the heads up that a motorcycle cop was down the road a bit shooting pop radar. And he was right, a few hundred feet later my passport went beserk!

I haven't encountered it here in the Twin Cities (not sure if they have it yet), but I though I had read a couple reviews that stated that it won't detect POP mode.
If it doesn't, I'm sure they're working on a solution...

But from what my buddy says he was able to detect it.
My passport picked it up to, but I saw him with my eyes first.
And they like to pop from the rear while moving.

If you're not the only car on the road, and the officer is turning on read radar (non-pop) do get a good lock you shouldn't have any worries. I usually don't speed when I'm the only car on the road anyways. You'd have the same problem with ordinary radar if he were to pulse you.
POP doesn't concern me as long as you don't drive totally insane. Any radar detector is not a license to drive like an idiot. You still need to be smart about how and when you speed and properly interprete the signals your detector gives you.

I had a V1, but my wife kept getting tickets because of POP radar. I had a Passport SR7 plus shifters installed and it so far has worked quite well.
