Default Keep them inflated to proper pressure and if you want, you can store them in plastic bags to help

keep ozone from eating away at the rubber. Sunlight is a definite NO! I store mine in the basement on the sides, but on the carboard circles they came shipped in from TireRack. I coat the sidewalls with 303 prior to storage to help keep the rubber fresh, but truth is that they wear out long before the sidewalls can deteriorate significantly.

Default I've been swapping wheels during the winter for quite a few years.

I stack mine with a thich pieces of cardboard in-between each wheel to prevent any rim scuffing. They are in the corner of my garage and I don't have any windows so I don't have to worry about UV degradation. I do keep a couple 2x4's on the bottom of the stack to keep the stack lifted off the ground. Sometimes the ground may get moist and I want my stack up off the ground.

I don't think there is really a right answer. It's more personal preference. I know some hang on the wall. Which is cool, I just had a bad experience with a bicycle falling on my B5 that was in winter storage in the garage underneath a cover. It cracked my windshield and screwed my hood, mirror, door, & qtr panel. So I have a phobia with things on the wall. In my 3 car garage I have all that crap and yard tools down my my junker car and my Audi and wifes MB sit alone away from any type of falling objects.

Looks just like my stack. I do the same with the cardboard.

Default Sorry if it's not meaningful to you that any minor flatspotting

I experience when storing my car for more than a month at a time is gone just by heat cycling the tire. IMHO, you're blowing this WAY too far out of proportion. If you want, you can search for information on the Wheel and Tire forum posted by representatives of The Tire Rack (not sure if you would recognize them as an authority on the subject). They have routinely posted this answer, as the question comes up seasonally.

I think sometimes people read too far into subject matters, and aren't really satisfied until they hear what they want to hear.
