The Conti Extrem Contacts will not pass inspection in Nov. Since I will be returning the car at lease end in June, I'm looking for a decent all weather tire to get me though the winter and have enough tread that there will be no issues at lease end. I will put no more than 8K miles on from Nov to June. Could stretch the Contis to 17k miles if I were not for the upcoming winter, but they will not last until june. So I will get new tires in Nov. Any thoughts.

I have similar concerns as yourself in terms of tire life and when I want to get rid of the car. I inquired about these as well as other inexpensive all-seasons. Tirerack recommended the Avon M550 over the Kumhos. And that's what I have now. So far I like them alot - only have 600 miles on them so far.

I am not even 100% sure why I chose the Avons over the Kumho. Either way I think both are safe bets. I only plan on keeping my car for <12 mos.

Great tire. Great price. Killer tread rating.

I took them on their first road trip over the weekend, with some "spririted" driving and I was very impressed. They did great in the corners and were very sure footed in the straighaways. No complaint... well except the jerka$$ who scratched my (use-to-be)perfect wheels when he mounted them... now they are buying me new ones...

Dude, all my wheels got jacked up at the install and I too am getting brand new wheels!!
