Default Anyone having problems with their S4?

I am looking at getting a 2004 S4 6MT with 30k miles and my dad is saying not to get it because one of his friends had one and experienced a lot of problems with it. Are you guys experiencing any problems with your cars? If so, what kind of problems are you having? Thanks!

Luck of the draw. A lot depends on the maintenance.

yeah. The car that I am looking at was an Audi buy back and the engine was replaced at 2,000 miles. So their for the car is considered a lemon but their is nothing wrong with it. The car has a clear title. I just really want to convince my dad about this car because I can get a really good deal on it.

Default bad tensioner, bad pullies, bad valve cover gasket, engines been out of the car, bad washer...

motor, bad starter...more then a few grand worth of repairs from 55K miles to 65K miles on the odometer. If maintenance problems are a concern, one should not buy an S4 even if many people dont have problems. The fact is, if you do have problems it will be VERY expensive. Much more so then on an A4.

Default I wouldn't worry about a buy back...especially if it has been solid since the motor was replaced

that being said, these cars can be finickey

Default I had an extreme amount of problems with my '04.....

that being said, look at 05's or late build '04's....

Stay away from early build 04's, 10/03 and before...
