Is anyone running the stock airbox with the K&N filter?

At least with a paper filter you know you are always getting proper filtration. Oiled filters dont trap the small stuff when they start to dry out. If you saw ANY performance gains, not just mind tricks of a new mod, then I would say sure do it if you like. But no filters have shown any gains (dyno) so why waste your time/money and risk not protecting your engine?
I am also agianst cone filters or CIA's which are actually HIA. The only cone filter, open element, setup that is a truely cold air intake is X1-Racers over on the B5S4 forum, where he has a fully isolated carbon fiber charging zone for the intake to sit in. Other than that, highway is ok with your plain jane open element intake, but street driving and traffic is equates to loss of power.

ordering a new filter or going to the dealer parts counter which is never open when I can make it.
I clean it and re-oil every 10k
It's a convenience thing for me.
