Anyone tried a higher 6th gear to help mileage? Any other ideas?

I completely disagree with this..
I experimented with this extensively out of necessity during the recent "gas shortage" we had here in Charlotte NC. Using this method I was able to get 26.9 mpg on a 30 mile commute in one direction. I snapped this shot as soon as i pulled into the garage. An car with the engine idling at 80mph gets better MPG than a car going 80mph turning 3k+ RPMs.
