Default AoA called about my keys...

cut the long story short: I purchased my car as a CPO. the dealer only supplied me with the 2 main keys that have the remote. the original owner of the car, "misplaced" the valet and the emergency keys.

AoA told me that the CPO program only guarantees that the 2 main keys be part of the sale. the 2 other keys are not part of the check list. someone out there has keys to my car.

would reprogramming the keys i have prevent the valet or the emergency key to start the car? help!!!

Default you need a new cluster and ECM i believe...

thats the only way to prevent the valet key from working.

Default Horsesh*t policy of AoA if you ask me, but I'm not surprised.

Just like they continue to let us use wheel jacks that allow the car to fall on our arms & hands...

Default You can recode keys to a cluster, but to get a new coding I believe you need a new cluster/ECM....

I do not believe the coding can be changed on the fly. New keys coded to the car, yes, but the old ones still work. To start the car yes, but not to unlock the car using the remote. Only two FOBs can be working at once, but multiple keys can work.

are you saying that recoding the keys can prevent the old valet/emrgency key from starting the car?

Default Isn't it that you can delete all keys, start over and pair only the two...

existing keys? Something like #46, adaptation channel 21, save 0 to delete all stored keys.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/key-matching.html">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/key-matching.html</a</li></ul>

Default your talking about remotes not keys....

you can have two remote fobs paired at once. Here is the ultimate question. If your key fob doesnt work to unlock the car can you still start the car. The answer is yes. I am pretty sure that once they key has the programming its not like you can just reprogram the car and the key and have a new set. I am pretty sure you need a new cluster to get the new imobilizer id which will prevent the existing keys from starting the car.

Default Nope, I am saying that you need to pysically change the imobilizer id. This is

in the cluster and ECM (mostly in the cluster). Your key fob that unlocks the door, if the key isnt coded to the car (i had a problem where the car couldnt be coded to more then one key fob, both fobs can still start the car). Pull apart the key. Part of it contains the imobilizer RFID and the other contains the radio transmitter which allows for remote unlocking. You dont even need the rest of the Key FOB to start the car. The part that has the key and Imobilizer RFID will start the car. What you need is new coding for the RFID, the only way I know how to change this is with a new cluster.
