Audi actually listened to and is trying to please enthusiasts with the B6 S4.

We complained about the shifter and transmission and they gave us a shorter throw shifter and closer ratio tranny.
We complained about the handling and they gave us a better chassis.
We complained about brakes and they gave us bigger and better ones.
We complained about turbo problems and we got a NA engine with better throttle response.
We complained about lack of seat memories and we got them.
We complained about lack of rear heated seats and heated steering wheel and we got both.
We put on 18" wheels and wider tires and we got both.
We wanted true dual exhausts with a better sound and we got both.
We put a BMW spoiler lip on the deck lid (although I don't know why) and we got that.
Hey, they're trying! Now let's all ask for a price in the mid 40s rather than the 50K range and the 360 HP of an S8 4.2L (and perhaps an FSI engine the following year) and maybe we'll get that, too.

better than low weight would. And all those features have their cost - in pounds.
I guess I'm one of the very few out here who are delighted with the new S4. I never trusted turbos - and never chipped my engine, either. So I'm delighted that the B6 has an n/a V8 with more power than the unchipped 2.7. I really don't care about 0-60; I'm much more interested in passing times. 60-90 is far more relevant to me than standing start times.
I'm also one of the few, apparently, who is also glad that the B6 will not look like a street racer. I want a fast car that won't be noticed, NOT something that screams "Arrest me!" to every officer on the road.
So I say "Bravo!" to the B6 S4. I can't wait for mine.

I don't care for the B5 S4 because of it's boy racer image and reliability problems. The latter is mostly due to owners modifying the **** out of it and going overboard. The B6 S4 is sporty and elegant yet has nothing boy racer about it, IMO. I don't care for the Avus wheels, though. I would just replace them with identically sized aftermarket 18 inch chrome plated wheels and all season high performance tires anyway.

Chrome wheels from Enkei's Milano and Ex Series and HRE are not even the least bit boy racer. In fact, they are very classy yet sporty, IMO.
