I'm definitely curious as to the UAO in the 4.2 V8 ... if it comes out better then I'll run 300v....

Default notice many US oils specify not for use outside of Norhth america.

unless its one that is ACEA rated it seems. so far I find M1 0w40 and syntec 0w30 and 5w40 meat ACEA a3/b3 as required by S4 owners manual.

Default Realize that my attitude towards AoA isn't the best - but that being said, I don't trust them to do

what's best for the car; I trust them to maximize their profit. You've likely seen my post before about my dealer putting 15w-40 dino in my B5 and AoA said dealer could do whatever they wanted, but I HAVE to follow the manual. That says it all to me - total load of crap. The only reason they switched to synth on the 1.8T is to avoid class action lawsuit and more claims. Entirely $ motivated, nothing else.

Default Yes, ACEA A3/B3 calls for a minimum HT/HS of 3.5; A1 says max of 2.9 - that's why its only for fuel

economy. Low shear = low resistance, but poor for protection.

Default Castrol Syntec 5w40 on our '02 allroad 2.7T at a good dealer...

...but that was because it was a "turbo" and the turbo cars get synthetic at N/C.

Good info - my dealership said they used Castrol TXT 506.01 OW-30 but I don't think that exists....
