....it's not hard to do with the torque we have. That, and the "Turbo-Lag" programming of the DBW. (Did anyone guess that I experienced a good dose of DBW-lag this morning?)

Noisier, but more compact than a belt-drive, to fit the V8 into the space.
TSB is a Technical Sevice Bulliten, AoA's way of saying that "something may need to be addressed" without ever saying "We have a Design/Manufacturing/Quality problem". That would imply a mistake, which might prompt a recall. A TSB keeps the fokk-ups under the radar.

In my case, it sounds like a loud transmission (my car is 6MT) - but it is not the trans, it is coming from the engine.
A supercharger-like whine is a good comparison.

Bingo. Low power steering fluid was the culprit for my loud whine. I'm a car noob; but it seemed strange that it was a consistent hum. i.e. I would have expected the sound to change when the steering wheel was actually turned but I guess it doesn't work that way.
