Just had a long talk with a technician at Audi. He told me that several B7 S4 owners have been complaining of terrible gas mileage. Of course the S4 with its 4.2 V8 isn't exactly a Prius, but it's not an SUV either.

I asked if the same complaints were made on the B6 S4, which is essentially the same car in terms of engine and drive train. He said that the B6 didn't get these kinds of complaints, further stating that the B7 did get new emissions technology. He went on to say that the S4 should be getting qround 15 or so miles to the gallon on average, but instead has been returning numbers in the single digits.

One driver complained that he was spending in excess of $150 a week on gas.

I'm looking at getting a B7 S4 or S4 Cabriolet (when it comes out), so this is a big concern. I'm also wondering if this is just drivers reacting to the high price of gas.

Has anyone here been getting unusually low gas mileage?

gas mileage on the B6, he is TOTALLY lying or completely stoned! Why do you think there is a Gas Guzzler tax? Poor gas mileage is the #1 complaint of B6 S4 owners.

...the tank was bigger. The "Mad Max" style 100 gallon tank in the back seat would be sweet.

Exactly what i was thinking tonight. I don't mind the MPG, I just hate filling up all the time.

it's a 40v V-8. why would anyone expect to get good gas mileage. 6 cylinders even suck it up
