below spare tire

What is below the spare tire under the metal?
It would be with in the little up that the center of the spare tire goes over.

If you are talking about the oval black piece. I have taken it off to find

It leads to the underside of the car. I guess it gives access to a part that may eventually neeed replacement. There is also a compartment that houses the SAT radio.

Usually they stuff the evap canister in there (accessed from below obviously).

can it be relocated?

I am looking for some more room in the trunk and getting rid of the spare tire.

Get under there and look at it.

You'll have to reroute some of the plumbing leading in and out of it, and probably extend a wiring harness. Not sure if there are any safety concerns involved either. That's your call. Once you assess what needs to be modified, then you can assess any added risk associated with the project.
