Default Re: Think twice

My last two vehicles were black( 98 M3 Cosmos Black, & 01 A6 2.7T Black ) . Will never do it again. Looks great at first. The only time they looked good was immediately after I washed it. Dust, stone chips, swirl marks were constant problems, I even resorted to using black "color back wax " but car never looked good. All the colors on the S4 look good ( I'm not into yellow). I chose brilliant red not because I really liked that color, but I wanted red. (my favorite color) I wished that they had had a medium metallic red, but they didn't. Think twice about black. Maybe the dealer can locate another color for you and do a dealer trade if you decide on another color. Whatever color, it is a great car. Get one if you can.

Default Bottom line THO, there is no color like black. not even close.

the black color is in its own class (well, then again, since each color is unique, each color is in its own class too). Never mind this post...please delete.

Default Why are you guys so **** about keeping your cars clean?

Black is a great color (or perhaps the absence thereof, haha). Darker colors show dirt more easily than lighter ones. Cars get dirty. Big deal. That doesn't mean that you have to stop everything and wash it. As long as you have a good coat of wax on it, I don't think you're going to hurt it by not keeping it spotless 100% of the time.

Oh yeah...my dolphin gray S4 doesn't hide dirt that much better than my black B5 did.

Default You're crazy. Dolphin hides it like no other!

I used to have a black SUV. There is no comparison. Dolphin always looks good...you can tell it's time to wash it by looking at the wheels.

Default I've always had black/black cars

Except for my 94 911 (BLUE BYU), I have owned several black/black cars, 3000GT VR4, Maxima SE MT5, A6 2.7Tq MT6 and my first car a 93 Sentra SER MT5. I also currently own a 2001 Ford Excursion LTD V10 in black (For Sale). I don't see what all the fuss is about black cars. Keep em clean (no automatic car washes!) and garaged and invest in a California Duster. Your car will always look good clean or dirty. My black cars look fantastic even after 50K miles. Now the wheels on an Audi...that's a different story!

Really? I'd guess the roads aren't salted where you live.

Default seriously, washing cars is for the peasants.

all kidding aside, the only reason to worry about washing your car is getting the salt off it. After driving in the snow, i'll run the car through my local brushless car wash that does a serious underbody / wheelwell flushing. Hand wax it once in a while to keep the paint safe. Besides that, who cares? - cars are meant to be driven.

Get the black - it looks hot even when dirty.

You are right. Come out to sunny California and then you'll see how great dolphin really is!
