Default blown motor (long)

Sorry guys i havnt been on the forum in a long time, but i thought you guys mite find this interesting... Two months ago , I started to hear a slite ticking coming from my motor ( i drive the car hard). I brought the car in for a check up. The dealer had the a car for a week. They called me up from the dealership and told me that my car was running just fine, and that i had nothing to worry about. I called aoa rite away and told them about the situation ($55,000 car and ticking is normal. I dont think so!) AOA called the dealership and had a tech perform some surgery on the motor. To make along story short. The cam followers broke off the cams. Audi claimed they have never seen anything like it. Aoa tried to place the blame on me, telling me they werent going to fix the damage because of my cat back milltek, and my intake... Not to worry guys they paid for the damage.(after yelling, screaming, and threatining to call my attorney.)$12,000 damage to be exact. It took the dealer 2 months to fix ,Ijust got the car back and she runs great. The funny thing is that they asked me if the car was chipped. But the dealer never checked for themselves. They told me that there was an onboard recorder (black box) that checks for over revving . And that there was no need to check the comp. Does this mean we can chip our cars and not worry? You guys be the judge...

Default At least it turned out OK in the end. BTW what is your build date?

You do know that there were 1200 early build engines that were defective. Machtig had his replaced in, I believe, 3-5 days!

Default What was your mileage, and what, if any, kind of loaner did they give you?

This is one of the first posts that I have read whare thay actually rebuilt the motor, rather than replacing it. If I leased, which I do, I would not be too concerned. If I owned this car, I would not plan on keeping it past the waranty period. You might as well continue to drive it hard. If it blows again, you could make a strong case that the original motor should have been replaced!

Default For real or are you zooming me? Most don't really like them.

I'm a little sorry that I didn't get the paintable type.

Default I have a similar situation but has not been resolved yet

My motor blew though and now AoA is saying they are not going to cover it as a result of modifications. Glad to hear your situation resulting in a positive fashion.

Default How did the ticking sound? Bennet and I heard a bad ticking from my engine.

His car was pulling atleast 8 car lengths on me in high gears and my car feels like a 3.0.

I may have the same issue.

I have no mods, but I may have the same issue. What steps are involved in diagnosis?
