Default BMW 335i (AKA "330tii")

We all know that the RS4 4.2 quattro will compete directly with the M3 4.0i, but...

I have heard that BMW will release an intermedaite model with a 320 hp 3.0 L I-6 24V DOHC with air-to-air intercoolers and sequential twin turbochargers, in 2007. Any one else hear this? Forced induction i very rare for BMW.

It would compete with the S4 4.2 Quattro, I would guess.

Default New BMW engine specs (306 HP / 400 Nm)

The new engine is a six cylinder, twin-turbo charged and with direct fuel injection. This will be the top of the line inline-six with 3,0 liters of cylinder displacement and 306 HP (German HP that is).

Maximum torque is 400 Nm ( = 295 pound foot). Compared to the standard 3 liter engine, horspower is up about 15% and torque is up about 30%. BMW also claims better gas mileage for the new engine compared to the non-turbo charged version.

Default that is going to be a very nice car. that sounds like a delicious engine.

with it's lighter weight and near identical torque it will be fun competition for the current S4 and likely faster. but that's ok...i like being the underdog

the B8 A4's top of the line engine sounds like it will be that new light 3.2 FSI V6 with the variable valve timing making 300 horses.

i think the next S4 will pull around 370 hp. but that's just me...

Default I question the reliability of a twin turbo engine in a BMW

Given the horrible reliability (i.e. much worse than Audi) of Bangle/Van Hooydonk BMWs other than the relatively simple Z4 (who's reliability is pretty decent). I believe that the B8 A4 will have the same FSI V6 that the B7 A4 and C6 A6 currently have but with 3.6L of displacement, 280 hp and 360 nm (265 lbs/ft of torque).
